About the Kids Cruise

Will you come and help us? During the Kids Cruise, children set off on an adventure through the canals of Amsterdam, while parents enjoy the beautiful views. Everything about this cruise

Below you will find everything you need to know before you book, from what is included to practical tips for along the way.

What is the Kids Cruise?

The Kids Cruise is not a separate cruise, but an interactive audio story with an accompanying activity pack that comes free with every child’s ticket for the City Canal Cruise. Children listen through the Personal Audio System to the story “Wanted: Freshwater Pirates” in Dutch or English, while the adults listen to the regular audio. That way the children do not get bored and parents can take a moment to relax and enjoy the beautiful views!

What is included in the Kids Cruise?

The Kids Cruise Amsterdam consists of a 75-minute cruise, an audio story in Dutch or English and an activity booklet with little pencils and a pirate spyglass. Free earphones are available on board, but we ask you to bring your own earphones or headphones where possible. That way, together we do our bit for the environment.

Would you prefer to sit on the rear deck? Then you can also simply listen to the audio story on your own phone. The instructions are on the table. You only scan a QR code, so there is nothing to download.

Where can I buy tickets for the Kids Cruise?

Tickets can be booked online via the Blue Boat website. You receive instant confirmation and do not need to print your tickets. Simply show your ticket on your phone when you board. Online you can also add a snack box to your booking, with crisps, popcorn, stroopwafels, nuts and a water or soft drink of your choice. Would you rather choose yourself? At the ticket office you can buy all kinds of food and drink. Tickets are also available at the ticket office, but booking online avoids queues and guarantees you a place on the boat.

Please note: at the ticket office you pay the full price. Do you have a promo code? Then make a separate booking for each person. Do you have an I amsterdam City Card? Then booking online is unfortunately not possible; you can book a time slot on site at the ticket office or join the next available cruise.

Where do I board for the Kids Cruise?

Blue Boat has two boarding points in the centre of Amsterdam, close to all kinds of attractions in the city.

  • Location 1 is the Blue Boat jetty at Stadhouderskade 550, opposite the Heineken Experience.
  • Location 2 is the Blue Boat jetty at Stadhouderskade 501, opposite the Hard Rock Cafe.

Make sure you are at the jetty at least 15 minutes before departure. Did you know, by the way, that most of our fleet sails electrically? That way we take steps for the environment together!

Are Blue Boat’s cruises wheelchair accessible?

Yes, Blue Boat is the only canal cruise provider in Amsterdam with wheelchair-accessible boats. These depart exclusively from the jetty at Stadhouderskade 501, opposite the Hard Rock Cafe. You can choose from the time slots at 10.30 am, 12.00 pm, 2.00 pm, 3.30 pm and 5.00 pm. When booking, please mention in the notes field that someone with a wheelchair is joining. Please bear in mind that a maximum of 3 wheelchairs can be on board at the same time, so be sure to let us know.

What our guests say about Blue Boat Company

We enjoyed the canal cruises once during the day and once in the evening, including beautiful lighting! The whole team was very courteous, the distance regulations were observed and there was interesting information to be heard on the trips themselves 🙂 We would recommend the “Blue Boat Company” to everyone and choose them again as a canal cruise operator the next time we visit!

The evening canal cruise was beautiful and the sailor did his job excellently. It’s a tour I’ll remember my whole life. Thank you Blue Boat Amsterdam 🙂

Great customer service from the ticket office staff and great tour with info on sights as you go via free earphones (multi-languages). Plus you can stand out at the back of the boat for photos. Nice and steady piloting through the canals. Great for adults & children (kids get an activity pack). Highly recommend.

Amsterdam is a magical place and this is a great way to see it. The food was good, the drinks were plentiful, and this served as a treat for my wife and I after a long day off exploring on foot.

This cruise was well worth the money. We were on boat for an hour and a half. We went in an evening trip which was beautiful with all the lights. We got to see parts of Amsterdam we had missed, but will definitely be returning so we can go and visit these also. Boat was lovely and warm and drinks were reasonably priced. Staff very friendly.
