Everything about this cruise

Below you will find everything you need to know before you book, from what is included to practical tips for along the way.

What can you expect from a cruise with the Blue Sky Boat?

The Blue Sky Boat is an open boat in which you sail through Amsterdam for 75 minutes, including the smallest canals that are out of reach for larger cruise boats. You are on board with a limited number of people and the skipper tells you all about the city. That way you also see the lesser-known parts of Amsterdam, while you take photos of the canal houses from the Golden Age to your heart’s content. A tip for sunny days: put on some sun cream before departure and wear something to cover your head. On the water it usually feels a little cooler, but the sun can be quite deceptive, even in the Netherlands!

What is included in the Blue Sky Boat?

The Blue Sky Boat includes a 75-minute cruise and a personal commentary from the skipper in Dutch or English. Please note: drinks and snacks are not included, but are available at the kiosk before departure.

Where do I board for the Blue Sky Boat?

The Blue Sky Boat departs from the Blue Boat jetty at Stadhouderskade 501, opposite the Hard Rock Cafe. Please note: Blue Boat has two jetties. Are you accidentally at the jetty at Stadhouderskade 550, by the Heineken Experience? Then walk about 750 metres further towards the Vondelpark and you will see our jetty opposite the Hard Rock Cafe.

Is the Blue Sky Boat suitable for children?

The Blue Sky Boat is enjoyable for young and old alike. Because the boat is not covered, children can enjoy the view and the lovely weather even more. Looking for an alternative cruise especially for children? Then we recommend our Kids Cruise, a cruise with an audio story made especially for kids.

Is the Blue Sky Boat wheelchair accessible?

Unfortunately, the Blue Sky Boat is not wheelchair accessible. Certain boats on our City Canal Cruise are. Take a look at the City Canal Cruise page for more information about booking a wheelchair-accessible departure.

Where can I buy tickets for the Blue Sky Boat?

Tickets can be booked online via the Blue Boat website. You receive instant confirmation and do not need to print your tickets. Simply show your ticket on your phone at our ticket office. We ask you to reserve tickets online in advance, so that we can avoid crowds at the ticket office. Please note: at the ticket office you pay the full price. Do you have a promo code? Then make a separate booking for each person.

Which other cruises does Blue Boat offer?

Alongside the Blue Sky Boat, Blue Boat Company offers a range of cruises, including the City Canal Cruise, Evening Cruise, Kids Cruise and group packages such as a dinner cruise and drinks cruise. Would you rather hire a private boat? Take a look at our group packages!

What our guests say about Blue Boat Company

We enjoyed the canal cruises once during the day and once in the evening, including beautiful lighting! The whole team was very courteous, the distance regulations were observed and there was interesting information to be heard on the trips themselves 🙂 We would recommend the “Blue Boat Company” to everyone and choose them again as a canal cruise operator the next time we visit!

The evening canal cruise was beautiful and the sailor did his job excellently. It’s a tour I’ll remember my whole life. Thank you Blue Boat Amsterdam 🙂

Great customer service from the ticket office staff and great tour with info on sights as you go via free earphones (multi-languages). Plus you can stand out at the back of the boat for photos. Nice and steady piloting through the canals. Great for adults & children (kids get an activity pack). Highly recommend.

Amsterdam is a magical place and this is a great way to see it. The food was good, the drinks were plentiful, and this served as a treat for my wife and I after a long day off exploring on foot.

This cruise was well worth the money. We were on boat for an hour and a half. We went in an evening trip which was beautiful with all the lights. We got to see parts of Amsterdam we had missed, but will definitely be returning so we can go and visit these also. Boat was lovely and warm and drinks were reasonably priced. Staff very friendly.
