Hospitality worker

As a Hospitality employee (we refer to this position as “Mepper/Steiger Host”), you’ll ensure that all tasks on and around the pier and on the canal cruise boat are completed. This includes setting up catering items that need to be brought on board. You might also be involved in maintaining the cleanliness of the piers and managing dishwashing.
You start your day by cleaning the canal cruise boats, ensuring that our guests can step into a fresh and clean boat. Once the boats are sparkling, you’ll focus on cleaning and preparing the glassware for all our catering cruises. Additionally, you’ll assist in maintaining the cleanliness of our company spaces and perform minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, tending to plants, and restocking supplies. During busy periods, you’ll assist on the pier and guide our guests to the appropriate boat. In short, there’s a lot of variety right in the heart of Amsterdam.
Furthermore, there are various other cleaning tasks at our sales location and our back-office office that are part of your role. Your task as a pier host involves ensuring that our guests board the correct boat during busy times on the pier. In this Mepper/Steiger Host role, you’ll always have an active hands-on task.
Since the canal cruises take place 7 days a week, there’s always a day or evening that fits well with your personal life and free time.
This position is available both on a call-in basis and as a fixed-hours basis. If you choose the call-in basis, this is likely a part-time job for you. You’ll receive an hourly wage that corresponds to your age. It’s certainly more than working at the supermarket checkout!
For those who prefer a stable job with fixed hours, we offer a competitive market-based salary.

Sales associate
Are you organizationally strong and is it your passion to provide good service to customers? Then this might be the job for you! As a sales associate, your goal is to sell our cruises and products. You provide optimal service to our guests, but you also have an eye for everything that happens on the boats. You communicate with the captains about which boat is still available.
Are you well organized and is offering good service to our guests your top priority? Then this is the ideal (part-time) job for you!
Here’s what you’ll do:
- You’ll sell canal cruise tickets, souvenirs and small snacks/drinks
- You’ll provide our guests with tourist information
- You’ll be responsible for the cash register
- You’ll keep an eye on the capacity of the boats
- You’ll keep the store and its immediate surroundings neat
- You’ll work well with other colleagues such as waiters, captains and other sales associates
- You’ll smile a lot 🙂
The ideal colleague:
- Loves to interact with others
- Speaks English fluently (Dutch, Spanish and/or German is an advantage)
- Is communicative strong
- Is an organizational talent
- Is service and sales oriented
- Is flexible in terms of working hours and days (including weekends and holidays)
- Has knowledge of Amsterdam (is an advantage)
