What can you expect from a cruise in Amsterdam with Blue Boat?

During the City Canal Cruise, you sail for 75 minutes through the heart of Amsterdam. You discover the famous canal ring, the Magere Brug, the Montelbaanstoren and the architectural highlights along the Piet Heinkade. Through the Personal Audio System on board, you listen to the audio story in one of 20 available languages. Most of the fleet sails electrically, good for Amsterdam and for the environment. As an Amsterdam family business, we take you with pleasure past the most beautiful places in the city.

What is included in the City Canal Cruise?

The City Canal Cruise consists of a 75-minute cruise and free use of the Personal Audio System on board. With every child’s ticket you receive a free Kids Cruise audio story and activity booklet. Wheelchair-accessible departures are also available. On board you will find free earphones, but we ask you to bring your own earphones or headphones where possible. That way, together we do our bit for the environment.

Would you prefer to sit on the rear deck? Then you can also simply listen to the audio story on your own phone. The instructions are on the table. You only scan a QR code, so there is nothing to download.

The City Canal Cruise sails daily with several departures per day. Are you looking for a morning boat trip through Amsterdam? Or would you rather enjoy an afternoon boat trip through Amsterdam? Where do I board for the City Canal Cruise?

Blue Boat has two boarding points in the centre of Amsterdam, both within walking distance of the Museumplein, the Leidseplein, the Vondelpark and the Heineken Experience.

• Location 1 is the Blue Boat jetty at Stadhouderskade 550, opposite the Heineken Experience.
• Location 2 is the Blue Boat jetty at Stadhouderskade 501, opposite the Hard Rock Cafe.

Check your ticket to see which location you have booked and make sure you are at the jetty at least 15 minutes before departure, so that we can bring you on board in a relaxed way.

Are Blue Boat’s cruises wheelchair accessible?

Yes, Blue Boat is the only canal cruise provider in Amsterdam with wheelchair-accessible boats. These depart exclusively from the jetty at Stadhouderskade 501, opposite the Hard Rock Cafe. The available time slots are 10.30 am, 12.00 pm, 2.00 pm, 3.30 pm and 5.00 pm. Please reserve in advance and indicate when booking that there is a wheelchair in your group, so that we can prepare everything properly.

Is the City Canal Cruise suitable for children?

The City Canal Cruise is family-friendly and, with every child’s ticket, children receive a free Kids Cruise audio story and activity pack. Are you with children aged 10 and over? Then the City Canal Cruise is perfect. For younger children we recommend the separate Kids Cruise story, where children set off on an adventure with Sjonnie the Mouse and Harold the Cat. That way young and old enjoy the beauty of Amsterdam from the water together!

Where can I buy tickets for the City Canal Cruise?

Tickets can be booked online via the Blue Boat website. You receive instant confirmation and do not need to print your tickets. Simply show your ticket on your phone at the ticket office. Online you can also add a snack box to your booking, with crisps, popcorn, stroopwafels, nuts and a water or soft drink of your choice. Would you rather choose yourself? At the ticket office you can buy all kinds of food and drink. Tickets are also available at the ticket office, but booking online avoids queues and guarantees you a place on the boat. Please note: at the ticket office you pay the full price. Do you have a promo code? Then make a separate booking for each person.

Do you have an I Amsterdam City Card? Then booking online is unfortunately not possible; you can book a time slot on site at the ticket office or join the next available cruise.
